I've also thought about this recently when opening up URL's from tweets in new tabs. It's easy to forget who referenced the web page in the first place - an important piece of information, I think. Wouldn't it be nice if the referer's image somehow appeared over the new page? By the way, with bookmarks (I use Del.ici.ous), I'll sometimes also tag them with the name of the person who recommended the page. I echo your sentiments.
