Why selling Real Estate online sucks

So, a little off topic from B2B, but applicable just the same.
“Why is it that I can tell more of a story selling my iPod on eBay then I can selling the biggest asset / investment.”
Here’s my problem. First of all, yes I am trying to sell my house in this horrible market. I know you’ll think it’s a bad decision, but for more than one reason I will do anything to become a buyer in this down market.
I have learned my entire life that you sell with stories and relationships. Yet, in single largest investment and asset, we are forced to sell using data and features like 4 bedrooms, 2100 square feet, “nice home”. Meanwhile, I can go on eBay and tell this wonderful heartwarming story about why I am selling my iPod. Take a look at my house listing – you’ll see what I mean.
Now don’t get me wrong, I believe if I actually took the time to sell the house with social media, creating my own site for my house, etc. that I wouldn’t be situation. However, I really don’t have the time. That’s why I hired THE BEST realtor in the county. I mean he’s very good and all, but he’s also hamstrung about what he can and can’t do online (mainly by the regulations). His web site is pretty bad too – but again limited by what corporate gives him.
Here’s what I know would sell my house. Hearing the stories about all the kids playing together in the neighborhood, the neighborhood campfires on the weekends, sled riding down the back of my hill in the winter, etc. And yet, here I am selling a house based on square foot and lot size.
I am fired up, and have lots of thoughts – you?
